This isn't the kind of book that gets stars. It's not really about plots or characters or any of the normal things that happen in books -- it's a mental game, not a novel. Kind of must-read if you're interested in SF, math, and stuff like that.
Interesting notes from the book to come back to:
- A world where physical laws are bound to the laws of geometry
- A mathematical retelling of plato’s cave
- A satire on nonsensical class differentiators, with complex rules that mimic our own
- Pursuit of science and transcendence of status quo as a religion, galileo-esque

[Edit: I read this book mostly to get a better context on this joke: https://xkcd.com/721/ which I came across years ago, and the joke is truly awesome (the tag mostly)]
Quite nice, albeit a bit basic for reading now. Would have done well in my early undergrad years when I had begun to question things, the scope of the reality around me and such using the most basic of the analogies. This is one of the classic cases where I don't know whether a work can be called Sci-fi or fantasy, though I found the world imaginative but lacking. I hope someone can make a good video game of it someday

A re-read. Once read when I was in my teens and it had a lot more impact then. Now I catch more of the social satire and commentary than I did before.
Overall not as enjoyable as I remember, but still an interesting thought exercise in the second half (it also reads way easier then, too)

This book was very old on my to read list, and I finally got around to it. The story wasn't very interesting, it progressed pretty slow. There was a lot of weird sexism which felt.... unnecessary? And random? And excessive. Even though the book was short it felt long. The more math focused parts are interesting though.
