It's amazing how a book written so long ago can still have so much relevance. The math is fascinating, but the satire of politics and social norms is also really compelling. Amazing how the more things change, the more they stay the same.

A quick, fun read, Flatland is a satire on Victorian society, particularly the social hierarchy. As such, I probably didn't "get" all of it (particularly the Colour Revolution) because I don't know all that much about Victorian social hierarchy. Still, it's quite entertaining.
I could not read this to save my soul. It reminded me of "Utopia" or "Gulliver's Travels" folded into geometry equations. I have a general abhorrence for mathematics anyway, so I probably had no business trying to read this, but it was on the "classics" shelf at my local library. It took me a month to get through 70 pages, and I just had to quit. (This is a great sleep-aid, however.)
UPDATE 8/29/20
I finally tackled this again. I listened to it this time in audiobook format. I still didn't enjoy it, but I was at least able to grasp that it had something to do with the absurdity of a society based on circumstances of birth.

Utterly mediocre aside from it's novel depiction of characters as dimensions.
