women just love being infinitesimally thin don't they

Have you ever been reading a geometry textbook and wished the shapes could...do stuff?
Me neither.
But Flatland is what I imagine might ensue if you were doing your math homework, then for some reason decided to ingest some mind-altering chemicals, and instead of solving the problems, you thought it would be hilarious and clever to tell life stories of lines, triangles, squares, and all their friends.
This takes the award for NERDIEST thing I've ever read

Flatland is such a neat introduction to spatial dimensions for a general audience, with an engaging story to boot. It's also an unexpectedly pointed critique of 19th century classism and misogyny. Some of the language is dated now, but its reasonably readable. The illustrations helped there too.

Language updates to this audiobook version to make it more readable (listenable?) were appreciated, though the pace of narration was a bit hit or miss.

Too sexist and random, but not in a way I like it. I suppose I didn’t understand the concepts, especially the shapes of Flatland beings, might be a second language problem.
But the sexism really made me quit reading this because wtf was that.

How did the author fit so much eugenics theory into a book ostensibly about geometry? An entire chapter is devoted to the inferiority of women. Even knowing what the story is about, the world building at the beginning left such a bad taste in my mouth I couldn’t even finish it all.
The first half of the book goes through tedious details about Flatland but if you can endure it, the last half of the book is mind blowing.
