The art in these remains difficult to parse sometimes, but darn it if balance isn’t just a Super Good Story, always. Makes me want to do the podcast again, ah.

“You’re going to be amazing”

Now, I know I am incredibly biased because I adore TAZ: Balance. It holds an incredibly important place in my heart, and all of the graphic novel adaptations thus far have been perfect or pretty darn close. This is no different.

This arc really stood out to me when I first listened to the show as one of the big overarching story moments, things start to come together, threads begin to get pulled, and both the audience, players, and the character themselves start to piece concepts together. That is something that this adaptation does really well. The clues and foreshadowing throughout the entire series has been phenomenal, but this really had some moments that as someone who knows what it's to come both had me squealing and served as a punch to the gut.

The way this instalment started to weave in our boy's backstories was also masterful and honestly left me teary eyed. I could gush about all of these adaptations forever. They, and the source material, mean the world to me. This is the second instalment to make me cry (and I know it won't be the last). If these novels continue on this trajectory, I just know that when we get to the finale, I am going to be an absolute wreck.

Unsurprisingly, the best arc of the podcast makes the best comic so far. More surprising is the spot-on pacing, the excellent blending of tones, and the way it plays with its own format to both dramatic and hilarious effect. Carey Pietsch's art goes from strength to strength, the sense of geography in particular, although the series continues to clutter it with sometimes confusing sound-effects. Other than that, this one's perfect!

LOVE IT!! these graphic novels are everything. Can't wait for the whole set to exist. This is one of the best yet! Absolutely stunning images, and one of my fave story arcs in the series too!
