You ever just feel the author telling you in bold letters what they really want to say about men like Tom? Because damn. Anyway, I figured out about 80% into the book what has happened and it still got me sitting through til the end. It was a page-turner for sure but something about figuring the whole thing out made the final reveal less… satisfying, I guess? 4/5 stars.

This book is a perfect study in minding your own business. I won't say more to avoid spoilers, but there you go.
The Girl on the Train will keep you on the edge of your seat and is full of twists. Once I got to around page 250 I couldn't put it down until I finished.

Why do books that have such terrible people as characters become so popular? Not one of these people had any redeeming qualities.

I've read more than my share of mysteries, thrillers, and suspense novel. Incredibly good, bad and really, really stupid. My favorite television genre are mysteries, particularly British ones with Detective Inspectors and proper cups of tea every time you turn around. But this, this jewel, is probably the best one I've read in a long time. Being so accustomed to the genre, I'm not usually flummoxed about where the story is going and "who did it", so to speak. However, it wasn't until the phone was found with only 50 pages left that the pieces began to fall into place. Even then, I still couldn't get my head around it. I had to keep going back and re-reading passages. It wasn't until literally the last page when I captured the full picture of both.
As you can see, I read this in the space of 24 hours. I don't like clichés, but I was riveted. Well played, Ms. Hawkins, well played.

You definitely won't be able to stop turning the pages, or sleep, until you're done and that's a good thing in a book.
I'm over Gone Girl, after reading the book, seeing the movie and reading another book by Gillian Flynn, it's too creepy for me and verging on psychotic, and this book has less of that.
I enjoyed the setting in London, the woman, a little like Bridget Jones, and the trains to suburbia. I liked that she was flawed. Occasionally the book will start something new you don't know about, like when the perspective first shifts from Rachel to Megan, and you don't know how the two are connected. Not a big fan of that, reading something in the dark, but it got cleared up quickly enough.
The plot was good, the pace was better and I would recommend the book for that.

Pretty good psychological thriller, maybe I expected more because of all of the hype.
