Definitely related to Smile more but this was still a cute enjoyable read

I super enjoyed Raina Telgemeier's book Smile so I was excited to see that her story continued in a second graphic novel. And it's about sisters! I have a sister! So this was bound to be something I enjoyed a lot. And I did! Raina and her sister have a very complicated and often strained relationship. They have similar interests (art) but also disagree on just about everything (especially snakes). While I definitely found some moments super relatable (younger sisters can be so annoying sometimes), I also found myself remembering how lucky I am that my sister and I get along so well. Growing up we would bicker but it never lasted long and then we'd get back to playing. But then I think my sister and I are probably outliers...

Like in Smile, this is a funny and heartwarming story. Telgemeier is a very talented storyteller and the graphic novel format works so well. I LOVE her art style and the bright colors. This is just all around a lovely read, especially to anyone with a sister. It's simple and deep at the same time and feels very real and relatable. Just very great.

Cute novel about a family that goes on a family road trip and eventually works through family issues in a graphic novel.

I love Raina Telgemeier. This is the 4th book of hers I've read with my 9-year-old daughter, and I cannot say enough good things about them. My daughter has now read Sisters at least 3 times, and I think she's starting in on it again.

This book is her follow-up to Smile (which my daughter has also read 3 times). They don't need to be read in order, and I highly recommend them both. Good stories, good illustration, and just overall really great books for my daughter (and me). They're not "message" books, but instead just slice-of-life stories from Raina's childhood.

Makes me want to get some of her Babysitter Club graphic novels.

This was amazing. I almost felt like I had an annoying little sister! Its very easy and relateable to read. The illustrations are great and its just great.

4.5, Smile related to me, but sisters definitely reminded me of my boys.
funny hopeful medium-paced

Sticky sibling relationships, the challenges of staying sane when you're part of a big family in a tiny apartment, and a two-week road trip make up most of this companion to [b:Smile|6393631|Smile (Smile, #1)|Raina Telgemeier|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1256154174s/6393631.jpg|6582125]. Telgemeier's art is wonderful as always, and her writing is so instantly familiar and real that my only complaint is that I always want MORE. But that's the limitation of the format I guess.

Cute! I liked this. I see why my daughter and her friends liked it. I do hope there's more like this & we get more comics from others like this as well.

Read through this in a little under an hour when I was home sick yesterday and loved it. Overall it was so much more relatable than [b:Smile|6393631|Smile (Smile, #1)|Raina Telgemeier|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1531595478l/6393631._SX50_.jpg|6582125]. There were so many pieces I related to, and it was fun and meaningful all rolled into one. I loved how well she captured the family dynamics, and even acknowledged that she was the bad guy and not just her sister. The road trip and the "incident" were well described, as well as the interactions with her cousins. Her desire to fit in shone through without having to specifically call it out. Great story telling. I plan to share this one with my 6 year old a little bit at a time, probably once soon and then let him read it on his own when he's a bit older.
