I guess I'm the minority on this book, I thought that it was just okay. It wasn't one of my favorites from the series.

Charlotte Daley is the daughter of the President and her parents barely know she exists besides getting her to put on a fake smile to help make them look like the perfect family. Zane is one of the secret service agents that is assigned to protect her, except he mostly thinks about how to get his fantasies about Charlotte to come true... well without losing his job.

The blurb really pulled me in but I felt like the story was just okay once
I started reading. I thought that Charlotte was immature at times. She seemed very whiny as well. I get that her home life as kind of terrible but some of the stunts she wanted to pull was just stupid sometimes, especially for the presidents daughter. I was also kind of annoyed with the whole dominant/ submissive tone of the whole book.

Overall, I just thought it was okay. I'm not going to continue writing a review because it will just seem like I'm bashing it. It was hot but just not a book that I'm going to recommend or pick up again.

Charlotte is the often neglected First Daughter, her parents are more focused on their political strength than her happiness. Zane is sworn to protect her at all costs. Lines are crossed and boy is it smoking hot when that happens. But careers in jeopardy and threats to Charlotte wreck havoc on finding a way to stay together. Can they make the tough choices and survive the wreath of POTUS? The series continues to provide fast, steamy stories.

The ending break my heart but I am so grateful for the One Year Later. I absolutely loved this couple. It was sexy, it was intense, it was a little bit if everything in a small book.

Re-read-July 2023: I'll bump it up to 2.5 stars from my original rating of 2 stars. The story has issues but it has it's moments.

D/s aspect seemed forced

The D/s aspect of this story seemed forced and like it didn't fit the story or characters. Almost like this book was written and then the author was told to make it like 50 Shades of Grey.

Spoilers ahead:
At the beginning of this book, Charlotte is going to have sex with the eventual villain of this story but she changes her mind when he grabs her hair and spanks her. But not much later in the story, she is turned on and into it when Zane behaves in pretty much the same way by spanking her, dominating her and expecting her to submit. This didn't make much sense to me.

Besides the D/s aspect being forced, this story was ok. I'm interested in listening to Katherine's story, which is hinted at in this book.

Charlotte would love to just be free, always being watched, not being able to do what she wants. She wants what she can't have but is there any way she can get it without ruining both their lives?
Zane is to protect her with everything he's got, but what happens when his feelings get in the way?
Can they make it work or is there something that will make it so everything will come crashing down?

Not for me at all. 22 pages in and I can tell these characters would drive me nuts.

**I was kindly provided with an ARC by Waterhouse Press via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review**

This was a great read and one that starts off really hot. Which did leave me wondering if there would be enough of a storyline to back it up. But there really was, and as the story progressed it became obvious there was much more to this than I had first anticipated. And I really did enjoy every moment of it, as it had me completely hooked. Plus the characters were great, as was the chemistry between Zane and Charlotte. And altogether I did think Misadventures of the First Daughter was a brilliant addition to the Misadventures series and its certainly one I would recommend to others.
