This was a super quick glimpse at some characters from two of Gail Carriger’s series. I thought it did well as an extension of the Finishing School series but wished it had been a better prequel to the Parasol Protectorate series. This didn’t fully feel like it warranted the same characters at the beginning of that series from what I remember but it did feel like the same unique world. 👥☀️

A short and delightful romp, in which we learn the details of how Alexia and Conall met.

I love Gail. Anything by her will be fun, funny, witty and in this case like coming home. The feels that come from knowing soap and sophronia are still in love is indescribable.
Love love love
Had to do a reread already

3.5 stars - After all the references to the hedgehog incident in Soulless, I was expecting more from this story. I rounded up because I liked the others I read in the series. And who doesn't love hedgehogs!

I adored this short story! A good peak behind the curtain to see the machinations at play. Fun to see Alexia (along with the Wicker Chicken and several other old favorites) in their element. I missed them!
