The first time I read these books it took me 4 days.
The second time I read these books it took me 2.5 days.
I am contemplating reading them a third time.
I am SO GLAD I read these after they were all released, because if I'd had to wait for the next one to be published I might have LOST MY DAMN MIND.
All of this means that I'm completely unable to be objective about The Hunger Games trilogy. I am uncomfortably obsessed with them. I haven't fangirled about something this hard since... ever, really. I love everything about them, even the parts I hate - like when [spoiler] dies. Or when [spoiler] dies. OMG how I cried. And cried, and cried.
And when [spoiler] makes Katniss into the [spoiler] without telling her ahead of time? And then [spoiler]? And they don't give her his [spoiler] until she [spoiler]? CHILLS. Goosebumps over my entire body. I just cannot even.
So, sadly, most of this review is completely unhelpful to anyone who might want a reasoned, thoughtful consideration of The Hunger Games. I simply don't have the ability to provide that right now, if ever.
I recommend that you read them and come to your own conclusion. Best I can do.

Reread the whole series. Interestingly enough, Mockingjay used to be my favorite but now I found it somewhat hard to get through. The first one, however, was as exciting as ever and difficult to put down. There's just something about stories of survival (esp. in the wilderness) that I really like, despite the occasional sillyness.

The books are as good as the originals, but there's nothing really "special" about them. A few extra sentences here and there, but no new content was added. Disappointed that I wasted money expecting more from them.

This was a good young adult read. It shows character development and I think that helps to move the story along and show how hard life can be at times.
