I love how Gaiman keeps the structure and narrative structure of the original myths. A fun read.

I wish Neil Gaiman wrote a compilation from every mythology around the world. This was such a treat, reading Norse legends in his delightful style and voice.

I saw this wording in another review and I’ll echo it for emphasis: this work is more like source material for Norse mythology rather than fiction. It’s a collection of tales (that do weave together to form one larger story) that make up the mythology surrounding Thor, Loki, Odin, and many others. I think going into it I was expecting it to be more like a fictional retelling, so I felt a bit disappointed at first, but I picked it because I adore Greek mythology and have always been interested in Norse mythology from afar. So though it wasn’t what I anticipated, I still really enjoyed the experience of reading it and now of understanding many of these tales.

Really liked the stories and the author's voice when listening to the audiobook. Niel Gaiman did it again! :-)

That was so much fun!! I've never really had that great of an interest in mythology but that sure has changed now! I really liked these stories and thought they were told in a very entertaining, engaging manner. As was to be expected, I liked certain tales more than others but I didn't particularly dislike any single one so I shall count that as a win. I think I may just have to invest in more mythology-based books, they're a hoot!

Also, I'd just like to mention that I think the start of Ragnarok may already be upon us but seeing as things will be reborn anew, I am not as worried.

I’m glad I read this book purely for what I learned from it. It’s a nice overview of Norse mythology and very easy to read, but for me the bedtime story tone felt a bit off considering the content.
