Incredible book. I listened to it on audiobooks and her narration was also excellent.

Hands down one of the best books I've ever read. Well the subject matter might make you put it off until "the right day to read it" whatever that means- This is Chanel's story. She is such an outstanding writer that when she wants to look directly at a part of the story, she does, But other times she uses allegory to paint the picture she means. I will read this again and again.

I don’t often give books five stars but this one deserves them all. This young woman’s writing is stunning and she lays bare her journey and private pain to teach us all something about ourselves and our culture. Those who defended her rapist for his “mistake” will probably never read this book and that is simply tragic because they need to open their eyes and see the pain and impact his actions caused. Honest and unflinching, this book will stick with me for a long time. I wish so many victims didn’t need this book to help them realize their truth matters. But I hope they will find some measure of comfort and peace in knowing they aren’t alone after they read it.

I think it is incredibly important for these stories to be told. While I disagree with some of the characterizations encompassing most/all men, I do find this to be incredibly moving.
I am grateful to Chanel for taking the time to go through the pain and memories in order to write this, and I hope it reaches those who need someone to relate to in a meaningful way.
