Unlike the first book, this story is a stand-alone arc. You can read it without watching the YouTube series, tough it will be better if you do. It takes place after it, and dwells on Lydia's trials and tribulations as she goes trough trauma, and slowly grows out of her shell and finds her path.

Lydia was my favorite character while watching The Lizzie Bennet Diaries, and when it ended I was left wondering what would happen to her - how would she recover from Wickham's betrayal? This book answers this question and many more. You get to see how Lydia Bennet not only survives, but thrives - all while being totally adorbs.

*I received an ARC from Touchstone.
I found myself actually connecting with Lydia in ways I hadn't through The Lizzie Bennet Diaries, and though there were a few things I didn't like/agree with in the book, overall I enjoyed it.

This book is a continuation of the story of Lydia after the events of the original story "The Lizzie Bennet Diaries". While there are some good parts to the book, it feels very disjointed and like they are two separate stories going on, the first being her trying to finish her courses in time to go to a college and kind of going on a downward spiral because she really hasn't truly healed from everything that she had to deal with during the web series. It honestly feels as though she hadn't learnt anything from her experience, and she even remarks on that herself. It isn't til 3/4 of the way through that we start to see a true character shine through and give us hope that maybe things will change, and the ending feels abrupt and really unearned, as though perhaps she should have just been going to therapy and the end of the book should have been the beginning, from there making herself a changed character which is what it seemed like when the web series left off.
It is disappointing, as there was a lot of potential in an idea like this, and this version of Lydia from any Pride and Prejudice is the only one that I can even potentially stand, however it is more of the far too bouncy annoying Lydia that needs to mature. And this isn't a book that you can read on it's own, you definitely have to at least read the other book if not watch the web series to even get an idea of what is going on. Too many random sporadic characters that may show up for a brief scene or two never to be mentioned again... it was ok but maybe only for one reading

I didn't know just how much I needed this book! I missed Lydia so much and this book made me so happy. It's so realistic and so Lydia! The ending made me really emotional, I just love her so much.
