Each to their own but this was way too messed up for me. This is not a romance sorry.

This book...

I honestly don't know how I feel about it. I cried a lot and got angry a lot.
I appreciate that the perspective on how the FMC coped was a 'human" one. How things affect her, how she interpreted things and what she chose to accept. Even after everything went down with the MMC, she still accepted him for his flaws and found love in their version of a HEA.

As a spectator, I absolutely did not believe that the MMC came anywhere close to redeeming himself. Again, understanding how his past and insecurities drive his actions, I still didn't feel that he deserved her forgiveness.

But other than that, the writing was good. The story just dragged on a bit. I read the teaser for Rory's book and am ready to read it ASAP.

Spice level 🌶 4/5
* I never thought I'd say it but, I think there was too much. Even though I know it was part of their healing process  I honestly just skimmed through.

I don’t know how I feel about this book yet. I think this may be one of the few books where I would be okay if there was no HEA. This book was extremely dark and heavy. And I don’t know if there really was character growth on Alexei’s part.

I think the conflict should have resolved itself earlier and we got actual fluff from Alexei and Talia. But my heart just broke for her and him over and over again.

I also wish the author would have used trigger warnings, because this book was heavy on the suicidal thoughts/attempts.

And it should be known that during the consensual sex, the characters involve pain play (knives, candles). It’s not every time, but the MCs initial sexual relations can be triggering.

honestly same review as the other 2 books lol. every book in this series follows the same pattern (except saint breaks this a little bit but not entirely): they meet, there is some reason why they have to start living together before they've started dating, they get together while she is stuck in his house (because she is always stuck in his house / can't go outside or work "for her safety"), she gets kidnapped or otherwise put in danger, he rescues her, they get married and immediately get pregnant. no mention of whether the girl can have a job or any kind of fulfilling life outside of the home, or hobbies within it that don't revolve around the guy and their kids, after this. it's usually implied in later books that she doesn't, except when she's visiting the other wives. it's kind of crazy like okay i know they're in love but what does she DO with her spare time.... WHAT DOES SHE DO
