Not what all the hype was about. But it was an easy read with (semi-predictable) twists.

First half was super cringe so it only gets a 3 from me. Once you reach the half point mark it's way better.

I waited months for this gem to become available via @libby.app and it was absolutely worth the wait. I found the characters (Fallon and Ben) to be believable, and they were beautifully complex. We have Fallon the Transient and Ben the Writer who meet once each year on November 9th. Their love is both instant and gradual, and they left me wanting more. I don’t like insta-love tropes, but Hoover gave me a whole new perspective on them. I wish I could say so much more, but I feel like I’m going to give away the best parts. I will say though that I didn’t expect the twist, and I enjoyed the surprise appearance from one of Hoover’e other novels (I won’t spoil who). If you haven’t read this one yet, you should 😉

I just didn't like this book. it wasn't for me and that's okay. Sure it had cute moments and stuff like that but I didn't vibe with the characters at all. The hype for ben... I did not feel it. He was nice and sweet but I kind of thought he was a tad annoying. Loved the small crossover we got through

“You’ll never be able to find yourself if you’re lost in someone else.”

I have reread this book possibly two-three times within the past 5 years. It feels that I never understood this book as deeply as I did this time around.
At first, I thought it was a bit too unrealistic for me with the stranger to lovers/fake dating trope and the two characters Fallon and Ben falling in love with each other with only three or so days within three years. But, that bothersome dissolved a bit and I just enjoyed the influx’s of emotions felt.
I liked seeing the true and real feelings both characters had not only towards each other on their rocky hill of experiences but, I also enjoyed their feelings and thoughts of themselves. We just see the changes and character development and I enjoyed that. I definitely annotated with many impacting statements, funny lines, and loving statements said.
