🤮🤮🤮 I literally cannot deal with people romanticizing Ben. He is UNBELIEVABLY toxic and controlling. Has a huge savior complex and has some very serious issues. I honestly feels so bad for Fallon. I’m really not sure how anyone can read this   book and think it’s cute and romantic. It’s not. Throwing this book away.

This book proved to me Colleen Hoover’s first psychological thriller was not Verity.

After finishing the book I wondered to myself, why did I read this? The truth is I get fomo and my curiosity of understanding what gives writing mass appeal got the better of me. Colleen Hoover wrote the worst romantic male lead I’ve ever read. I remember when he was fucking his dead brother’s wife I was screaming with rage, but babes I was in for an even worse storm and I didn’t know it.

Also the fact that he got an agent to potentially publish his story detailing the very criminal action he committed without fear of law enforcement is peak white privilege.

ALSO THAT CLUB SCENE. Remember girlies it’s not SA if you like it. Even if you’re saying stop or nothing at all. It’s not assault if you’re wet due to a natural physiological response the body does to prevent injury not out of arousal (read Come As You Are by Dr. Emily Nagoski Colleen Hoover Stan’s PLEASE). In case you don’t understand the tone I’m being sarcastic. Fallon was assaulted in the club by Ben and her moaning does not change the fact that she was not consenting ESPECIALLY BC SHE WAS DRUNK AND HE KNEW IT. UGHHH IM SO ANGRY

In the words of Taylor, “I wish you’d left me wondering”

-1000000/5 stars. Please, delete this book.

Are you trying to tell me that the book about
*Cough*
Abuse, sexual assault, gaslighting, stalking, scar (that are you falt) fetishizing, dead-brother-wife-who-you-see-as-your-sister fucking, marking people who attend suicide as „attention seekers” and much, much more shit is a „romance book”?
You must be joking

Characters like this are what makes people believe they can treat women however they want and get away with it.

I started off really enjoying this book. I liked the concept, the romance and the chemistry the characters have together.

I hate how it is written to make it sound like anyone with scars/disabilities should be embarrassed about it. I hated the assault scene and how it was just brushed under the carpet. I hated the
“I have never wanted to pin a girl to the floor before now” comment.
I hated the ending and how she forgave him for doing something so unforgivable. Fuck this book.

Okay I'm going to try to keep my review as spoiler free as I can because the reason why my review is as low as it is, is due how the book ended & the last section of the book. Going in, and as I was reading I knew it wasn't going to be a five star read (or 10/10), but this book was really hyped up so I wanted to read it through it's entirety. The concept of the book was intriguing. And as I was reading I found myself gaining interest but I honestly wanted to stop at the beginning due to how much I dislike the male main character/love interest. The behavior that he displayed throughout the book made me feel uneasy and the ending didn't make it better. Honestly the ending made me so upset and I've never been this upset over a book before. Probably one of the few things I actually enjoyed was the commentary that Colleen's includes throughout the first couple sections of book bout romance novels. Overall I honestly did not like this book which sucks because It Ends With Us is one of my all the time favorites. I'm about to go read Verity after this and hope it gives Ms. Hoover redemption because November 9 was not it AT ALL.
