Interesting fragments from an interesting philosopher.

Easy read, but concepts can last a lifetime. I also enjoyed the background and forward presented by James Hillman. Key concepts: we are always changing and in flux, see life as a full circle, and reflect in your own mind.

Ask me when I have read it again, and again, and again. Maybe then it will be old. I doubt it, this falls with other books (Analects, Tao Te Ching, Art of War, Monogamy) that must be read countless times; wells of wisdom and ideas.

Traduction de Marcel Conche.

It's very tricky to assess a book of fragmets, all the more when the edition I read was composed only of selected pieces. Therefore I refrain from any rating for the time being. However, I find it meaningful and important to reach back to Heraclitus' complete salvage sometime.

I mean, I really like Presocratic philosophy and Heraclitus is great (which is why this has 2 stars instead of one), but I mean... this translation... is just... not really a translation??

Brooks Haxton is really playing fast and loose with the original Greek: often leaving out or adding stuff in (and not just some words to clarify, but mostly to obfusciate the fragment), for some reason presenting the fragments as if they are bad modern poetry and not being clear which fragments he is translating...

Just... not a good translation...
which is sad, because I was enthousiastic about the fact that this collection also had the fragments in original Greek/Latin...
