3.5 Better than the previous two books (not so much silly plot stuff), just a pleasant, sweet story of two people falling in love, with minor complications keeping them apart. Both Leonie and Lisburne were enjoyable characters, and played off one another well. Could have done without the "men solve all the women's problems" ending, though.

I gave this four stars the first time around, and while I didn’t write a review, I can see why: It’s slower than Chase’s other books. There aren’t the fireworks of the others in the series—but this time, on audio, I appreciated it more. Leonie, as the last Noirot sister to be single, is grappling with doing three people’s jobs at the shop while coming to terms with not only her past trauma but also what turns out to be a profound loneliness. She finds her perfect match in Lisburne (as much as neither of them will admit it), and their relationship turns into something so mature and beautiful. When they make love, they laugh together. It’s sexy and mature and wonderfully written. So even though I have other Chase favorites, it’s been promoted to five stars.
This was a re-read on audio and I know now why I’d forgotten this book. It’s pleasant enough with Chase’s usual style and wit but the dressmaking details quickly got tedious and I was really ready for things to wrap up faster than they did. The ending was dragging quite a bit. Still Loretta Chase mediocre book is still better than most of the stuff out there in historical.
Wundervolle liebesgeschichte mit tollen Charakteren aber die Rahmengeschichte drum herum hat mich etwas gelangweilt.
A really great conclusion to The Dressmakers series by Loretta Chase. The ladies of Mason Noirot have come up from the streets of France to become one of the premier dressmakers in England. But as each sister has found love, youngest sister Leonie feels like she has to devote herself to keeping the business afloat. What she doesn’t need is a handsome distraction like Simon Fairfax. As Leonie and Simon get to know each other better and better, their conversations get steamier, their feelings get stronger, and they can no longer fight their attraction. But can Leonie leave the business that she has poured her heart and soul in to or will she let Simon go? Ms. Chase is one of my favorite historical romance authors and this was another fun read. I can’t wait until the next series!
This is a strong 3.5 star book but I'm not rounding up. It was good but lacked some angst and steam. On to the final book of the series which I'm told was very good! Fingers crossed
