Perfect Sound Whatever is amazing. I read it in less than a week and found it extremely difficult to put down. I think the combination of personal stories and music recommendations is amazing, and the fact that Acaster has covered such a wide range of genres, emotions and sounds is extraordinarily impressive.
I would recommend this book to anyone, even if you’re not very interested in music. It broadens your horizons and introduces you to new ideas and experiences, as well as giving you some to relate to.

this book was not at all what I expected. I love James Acaster as a comedian so much, and picked up this book as I was curious for new music suggestions. Also because it's bound to be funny (and in this aspect it most definitely did not disappoint). what surprised me was the frankness and openness with which the book discussed the topic of mental health (be sure to check trigger before reading). this made for an incredibly interesting read as Acaster discusses the between links mental health and music in an accessible way for the reader. also, the book contains pre-made playlists!!

I've been putting off reading this because I wanted to listen along to all the albums and songs mentioned in the book, but I realized I'd never have time to do that, and that I could always just reread the book whenever I needed to.
It's well balanced in terms of how Acaster weaves his personal stories in with the reviews and descriptions of the music he's presenting. It also matched his comedic tone, so you can hear his voice as you're reading it.
