I enjoyed this book! It’s a YA book, but doesn’t read like one in the sense that it’s overall a mature and fast paced story.

The very last bit of the book was somewhat too tidy. However, the way she led up to it there wasn’t really anywhere else for it to go.

I very much enjoyed the relationship between Poppy and the teacher. It was a nice add to the story to see that there are still good people out there.

Got an advanced readers copy of “This Golden State” by Marit Weisenberg in the mail yesterday and I could not put it down. I fell in love with it in a mere 8 hours. It’s a page-turning mystery and a coming of age story about a girl named Poppy who yearns for answers about the family she’s grown up with yet knows little about. I’ll probably be thinking about this book for months to come.

This one really surprised me. The writing was solid and the pacing felt smooth. I loved following Poppy in her journey of finding out who she is and who her family is too. She is so strong for what she’s gone through and I could never imagine living the life that she did. Her relationship with Harry was sweet and cute. They really complimented each other well and was a nice edition to the story. It was so nice seeing her realize that she wanted and deserved more. Overall, the story was compelling and kept me listening. I look forward to reading more from this author.
