So, what did I like about it?
I found [a:Kharma Kelley|15662193|Kharma Kelley|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1472148805p2/15662193.jpg]’s writing style to be breezy with a good dose of sarcasm and enjoyed the inclusion of pop culture quotes and shows making this a very easy book to read.

I love stories that highlight the fact that we all have choices and that the choices we make not only affect us but those around us too. Sometimes, the hardest thing is to take personal responsibility for those choices we make.

As [b:Tall, Dark & Deadly|31625812|Tall, Dark & Deadly (Agents of the Bureau, #1)|Kharma Kelley|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1472148116s/31625812.jpg|52307911] is the first book in a new series, I understand that it’s a fine balance between imparting information and pace of plot. Ms Kelley has built a complex paranormal world filled with vampires, shapeshifters, goblins, demons and various species of Fae, many of which will be very familiar to existing fans of paranormal romance and urban fantasy genres. She has created an interesting history spanning millennia as well as a system of governance for the supernatural world which includes The Bureau who oversee the laws that every supernatural species has to adhere to. I’m intrigued to see where she’ll take us next and learning more about this world and how it works in subsequent books.

I really enjoyed [b:Tall, Dark & Deadly|31625812|Tall, Dark & Deadly (Agents of the Bureau, #1)|Kharma Kelley|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1472148116s/31625812.jpg|52307911]; the relationship development, the adventure, the twists and surprises turned this story from a good book to a really good one, not to mention the passionate, erotic sex. Oh my! How can so few pages make me go from titillated to excited and adrenaline pumped to blubbering like a baby?! There is a nice little epilogue to finish this story off too which I enjoyed plus there’s the blurb about book 2 "Nocturnally Yours" which is coming out later this year right at the end. These characters have found a place in my heart so I will be looking out for it with hawk-like attention.

So, ummm, was there anything I disliked about it?
Now, I’ve got to be honest, yes I gave this book a 5 star (I loved it) rating but to begin with I didn’t like our heroine, Chloë Hunter. She was too gung-ho, seeming to lack the level of intelligence that I look for in a female lead and had to be rescued on numerous occasions from situations that were of a direct consequence of her thoughtless actions (*tut* I hate that!). However, I’m glad that I persevered because as the story continued, Ms Kelley gave us insights into Chloë’s history - the life she’d lead, the choices she’d had to make – that forged her into the adult she became. Ms Kelley also used Chloë’s new second-chance as an analyst with the Bureau as a way to develop her character and grow. I found myself seeing her with new eyes as I continued to read and did a complete 180° - Chloë earned my respect and won my heart.

So, basically what I’m saying is...
After a shaky start, I ended up really loving this action-packed, emotional, passionate, and sometimes dark, paranormal romance novel.

Due to the graphic violence and sexual content, I’m rating this book 18+ and so I’d recommend [b:Tall, Dark & Deadly|31625812|Tall, Dark & Deadly (Agents of the Bureau, #1)|Kharma Kelley|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1472148116s/31625812.jpg|52307911] to adults who aren’t offended by content of this nature who like hunky heroes with a dark edge and enjoy seeing the female lead character really grow and come into their own within a relationship/romance tale that has some gritty story-lines and oodles of passion.

I want you to know that I was lucky enough to be given a digital version of this book for free from the publisher (BooksGoSocial) after making a request via Netgally.com in exchange for an honest review. The publication date was 30th September 2016.

Great start to a new series, this book has fantastic writing. The connection between Ethan and Chloe was great, and the overall story was very good and contained a great mix of suspense, romance and some well developed secondary characters. It is well written and the story moved along at a great pace. It was great to see how Ethan a strong alpha male who happens to be Chloe's boss and Chloe a sassy half breed who used to be part of a vampire gang come together. Looking forward to reading the next one

From the beginning I love Chloë! She is spunky, sarcastic & dangerous! She is also all about the ends justifies the means and asking for forgiveness instead of permission. My kind of girl!

Ethan is stuff, bossy and totally by the books. She is her boss and despite being super hot she is off-limits and obviously not interested, right?

See what evil comes about and where things go with this well written story!

Can these polar opposites come together?

Received from NetGalley

Tall, Dark & Deadly is very addictive and fast read. While I loved the plot line, the pacing is a bit of - there are parts with nonstop action and parts where story kind of drags.

Chloe became a vampire about a century ago and since then she lived and worked with the worst of them. After she got caught she ends up in supernatural prison. Instead of execution, she is recruited to work with Ethan and help bring justice. Ethan has a very different personality, he works by the rules, actually, he even wrote a few himself. Even though they are very different, they are attracted to each other. They fit together well. When faced with a dangerous decision, they both put their lives on the line to save other and do what is right.

My favorite part about the story is the world described and would love to read more about it. I also loved dialogs between Chloe and Ethan, their banter is always on paint and hilarious. :)

Chloe is a bit of a wild child! She is on work release from Vamp prison after falling in tow with the worst of the dregs! Now as reformed as this stubborn headed but well meaning dhampir is ever going to get, she rather enjoys being one of the good guys for a change. The fast that her boss is very pleasing on the eye no doubt helps! Her other team members seem to tolerate her even if they do keep an eye on their backs when she is around. If she could only deal with authority and orders a little more...tactfully!!!!

Ethan is the team leader and AD of the Bureau (think FBI/Police ) who ensure that Supes don't gt too fat out of hand. He is driven to distraction by the feisty Chloe, but with secrets of his own to keep he can't afford to let the little temptress through his carefully erected walls. When Chloe gets herself involved with her old crew, Ethan is forced to come save her from herself. They soon realise that there is way more going on than her old gang wanting her back - they need her abilities for something shady.

Add in a fellow agent with a sincere distrust of the lovely Chloe, he is unwilling to see the wood for the trees and just wants to locker her butt back in jail!

Ethan is just so mysterious! He has a LOT to his back story and we realise that he has been around the block a time or two to say the least! He can be snarky in his unguarded moments, meaning some great banter with Chloe but he is also reserved and almost stoic at other times.

I'm wanting to know what happens with the rest of the team now. I'd really like to see Hide to get a girl/or boy to help him remove the stick from his rear end!

I am a huge fan of the paranormal/urban fantasy genre I am always on the lookout for stories that has a unique and refreshing take, so when Tall, Dark, and Deadly came on my radar I could not resist. From the moment I started this book, I knew that this would be an interesting read.

Tall, Dark and Deadly tells the story of Chloë Hunter a hybrid vampire (Dhampir) and Ethan Raines a 3000-year-old vampire. Chloë attracts trouble like steel to a magnet. She was once part of a gang of rogue vampires, but now she works for the Bureau. Her working for the Bureau was due to Ethan coming to her rescue, and saving her from possible execution and besides, they could use her unique skills. (The Bureau is like federal agency for supernatural beings). Chloë possessed the strength of vampires but none of their weaknesses. Sun nor silver has any effect on her, as a result, she was a target for rogue vampires. Her telekinetic powers made her a force to be reckoned with. She considers herself a freak because of her half-breed nature. Humans want nothing to do with her and vampires either cursed her or wanted to exploit her.

Her working with the Bureau meant she could not afford to go to her old ways; however, a situation involving her old gang arose placing her in a difficult situation. She needed to honour her pledge to the bureau, but at the same time to save an innocent life she had to do the bidding of her former gang.

Ethan who so happens to be Chloë’s boss is a man of mystery. He is attracted to Chloë; however, he kept his feelings hidden, because he felt he did not deserve to be happy. In addition, he felt that revealing how he felt would ultimately lead to Chloë getting hurt. He came off as formal and uptight, but as the story progressed we see that there was more to him. The author’s portrayal of Ethan was engaging and I enjoyed discovering what made him tick. There were so many layers to him. His focus has always been work and governance, but all that change when Chloë entered his life. He now had someone and something worth fighting for, so when Chloe confided in him about her situation he helped her to conceive a plan as for how to approach this dire situation without involving the Bureau. Will their plan succeed?

The start was engaging. At this point, the pacing was fast, but then the story slowed down somewhat as the focus of the story was on the development of Ethan and Chloë’s relationship. It maintained that pace until around 40% the story when Chloe and Ethan found themselves in an untenable position. This aspect of the story had me on the edge of my seat. I could not wait to find out if the rogues would achieve their diabolical plan or if Chloe and Ethan would be able to stop them before they did.

Chloë is impetuous making her the complete opposite of Ethan, but despite their differences, they were great for each other. I loved that they trusted each other both professionally and personally. I loved the pace at which their romance developed. It was not an insta-love connection. Their feelings for each other grew overtime which proved that what they had was the real deal. The supporting characters played their part in making the story enjoyable.

Overall, this was a good story and I cannot wait to read the next book in the series. ‘Tall, Dark and Deadly is a well-written story that will keep you glued to the pages from start to finish. If you love paranormal romance then you will love this book.
