An interesting exploration of grief. I was expecting the regular true crime “who did it, where, and the person gets caught” but I appreciated the structure once I got used to it. I loved the different take on heaven and our connection to those who left us on earth. Really fascinating :)

This was a very emotional read, but the book is fantastic. The lovely bones is an interesting premise, and Alice Sebold executes it well. This is a story told almost entirely from the perspective of Susie Salmon—she recounts her life, her murder, and her observations of the thoughts and actions of the people who were close to her while she was alive. The lively bones is a story of loss, grief, and acceptance; her family

is able to eventually move on from Susie’s murder, in their own way, while still thinking of her and paying tribute to her life

The story, by necessity, leans into metaphysical ideas of what exists after death and experiments with spiritual/supernatural events and interactions, leading to fascinating plot-points. As sad and difficult as it was to get through sections of this book, it was a phenomenal read, and I highly recommend it!

Profondo e sensibile, un libro intenso capace di comunicare la difficoltà di una perdita incomprensibile. Alcuni punti li ho trovati un pò artefatti e forzati ma comunque il messaggio del libro può essere compreso con la delicatezza con cui viene esposto. Mi aspettavo comunque un trasporto più forte, per questo le 3 stelle.
