-.75 literally just for a couple lines during the climax that just Did Not Work for me and took me out of the atmosphere.

the world building in this book is incredible, and the writing is so witty and engaging. not 5 stars for me personally because I didn't connect to the characters until the very end.

I really enjoyed the storytelling and characters! What a special journey emphasizing just how much our experiences, and the people we encounter along the way, change us and help us discover our best lives.

As a fan of magical realism, I expected to thoroughly enjoy this book. Admittedly, I struggled to connect with the story at the beginning. Some of its elements are darker than the magical realism books I have previously read and loved. But the more I read, the more I enjoyed it, so that by the time the end of the story rolled around I was sad it was over. The settings and the characters are so strange and wonderful, I couldn’t help but grow fond of them. After reading the last few sentences, I breathed an audible sigh of relief and closed the book with a goofy smile plastered on my face.

Fun adventure! Though I feel the Marquis and Angel Islington stole the show!

I remember watching the TV series as a kid my parents had it on DVD I think. I loved the angel Islington then haha. The main downside is that Richard is very much just the everyman. He's just some dude
