Oof, this one was really tough for my to get through. I would say if you have any mental health triggers to seriously consider the trigger warnings, they were super valid and super intense. This book is about 75% hurt and 25% comfort which for me isn’t a good time. While the book was well written, a magic dick didn’t cure mental illness for me I didn’t have an enjoyable time with the book I was just fighting through it being sad. I’m so happy Jules and Bodhi got their HEA but the journey there was roughhhhh.

Ashley James writes some of the most broken male characters! She never fails to just break your heart for one of the men in her stories while healing it back together by the end.
In this story we are reading about Bodhi, the mysterious and grumpy character from her Hidden Affairs series. Bodhi struggles with his body image due to terrible abuse physically, emotionally and mentally as a kid. His story was hard to read but also very enlightening from a male POV for a character. I think this was Ashley’s most emotionally damaged character and it was so sad to read his history and what we went through that leads to all his struggles in the present.
Jules is the father of Bodhi’s estranged high school best friend. A chance meeting between the two sparks an interesting, difficult and whirlwind romance between the two characters. Jules is also struggling with life altering circumstances that have occurred as well as the relationship between his son. However he’s instantly drawn to Bodhi and becomes the character who refuses to let that spark go.
This was Ashley’s first more feminine character which was very eye opening for me as I tend to enjoy MM with characters who are more manly and “rugged”. I wouldn’t say that it’s bad at all as there are all types of gay/bisexual men however it was definitely different for me.

This book is everything. Its heartbreaking and emotional. But then its love and healing. Jules and Bohdi are perfect together. 100% recommended.

This!! This was the type of writing I love from this author! It was heart wrenching and steamy. The side characters were there, but not overwhelmingly so. I was really hard on the previous book in this series because of some plot holes and the abundance of setting up the sequels, but there was none of that in this book.
I was also concerned about how a parallel time frame to book 1 would be shown, but she handled it perfectly. I didn’t once feel like I was re-reading scenes from book 1 from a different POV.
This book absolutely held its own and I feel like it could be read as a stand-alone without feeling like you were missing key character details.
Overall, I loved it!!

Storm Clouds and Devastation
Bodhi and Jules
Be still my heart... Bodhi's story is one that as difficult as it may be to read at times is one that should be and heard loudly. Definitely read the trigger warnings before diving in if that's a need for you. From having met Bodhi in previous books I knew there would be something to him. But never did I imagine his story and journey being this. I just wanted to wrap him up in a bubble of love and protect him from everyone who hurt him. He definitely needed someone like Jules to be there and care for him and fall in love with. Bodhi's epilogue might have you sobbing, just saying.... that's why I wrote be still my heart in the beginning... everyone's journey to healing is different and I love what the author did there with the epilogue.
