Okay let me say that I was anticipating a lot coming from this book, I was expecting some mind boggling smut and that's just??? Not what I got. This was a slow burn but it felt slower than it should've been- abnormally slow if you will.
I did not like Zahra at all, she was very annoying and winey and over dramatic. None of the things Rowan found attractive about her was actually attractive. She was just overall an annoying character, getting annoyed with her actions, etc.
Rowan Kane on the other hand??? I loved him. Absolutely loved. He was the perfect big-scary-brooding-man character that I expected from the book.
The book is very predictable, which I didn't like much. I did buy the second book so I feel like I made a huge commitment?? I'm hoping the series gets better, fingers crossed!

Zahra and Rowan are the perfect example of a grumpy-sunshine couple! I loved Zahra's positivity and her strength.
Good thing Rowan finally figured out how to grovel! And kudos to Zahra for standing her ground.

Zahra werkt in Dreamland, een pretpark waar ze kinderen een make-over geeft en zo hun dromen waarmaakt. Haar droom is echter om het park mee te helpen creëren en er een plek voor iedereen van te maken. Sinds haar ex met haar idee ging lopen, wil ze hem en haar hele droom liefst van al zo snel mogelijk vergeten.
Rowan is een kleinzoon van de oprichter van Dreamland en nu zijn grootvader gestorven is, krijgt hij de taak om in zes maanden de zwakke punten van het park op te zoeken en deze te verbeteren. Het liefst van al wil hij zo snel mogelijk terug naar huis vertrekken. Hiervoor heeft hij precies Zahra nodig, al wil hij dat niet toegeven...
Het verhaal zit goed in elkaar en er zijn een aantal details in het begin die later terugkomen en dan toch belangrijk blijken te zijn. Ik hou van de enemies-to-lovers-trope, maar niet als al vanaf het begin blijkt dat beide partijen elkaar heel leuk vinden.
Volgens mij had dit boek veel meer potentieel dan alleen om romance te draaien. Het emotionele aspect van een grootvader die een heel themapark aan zijn kleinzoon nalaat, zodat hij zijn creatieve kant weer kon laten zien, is voor mij niet diep genoeg getoond. Daarnaast gooit elk personage zijn hoofd in zijn nek om te lachen, gek als je weet da Rowan normaal gezien nooit lacht....
