KD Casey is absolutely on my favorite romance authors list. Each book in this Unwritten Rules series was better than the last. Actually, my first thought after finishing this one was that I'd go back and reread the whole series. The timeline between the three books makes my head spin - in a good way.
This had an excellent balance of on-field and off for me, and I loved the push and pull between the leads. I also love how Casey uses long stretches of time (10 years in this one) to change the shape of the story and layer multiple narratives over each other. I'd like to see her venture beyond pitchers & catchers, but I'll take absolutely whatever I can get.

🚨 MOLLY READ A SPORTSBALL BOOK AND LOVED IT🚨
Thanks to KD Casey for teaching me about the catcher’s importance to the game of baseball AND how sexy the pitcher:catcher relationship is, even if they’re not TOGETHER together. 🫦
I loved Alex and Jake and their emotional rollercoaster so much. Casey’s writing is excellent; there are a couple of scenes that were just stunning (I’m thinking of the one right as they get called into the manager’s office and think they’re going to get cut).
No spoilers here, but I’ll just say the hookup app plotline is a little bit ludicrous. However, that segment was amazingly fun to read and resolved in the hottest possible way.
Five stars, perfect book. Elephants fan for life.

Oh, this was a BLAST. My favorite of the UNWRITTEN RULES series, and I love that players from other books made cameos here too. I wish we lived in K.D. Casey's Gay Baseball Universe tbh.
This book balanced the then-and-now of Jake and Alex's romantic journey, and it explained the feud that Casey hinted at in Unwritten Rules #2 that had me like OKAY EYES EMOJI... even if of course that feud was A MISCOMMUNICATION! *shakes fist* Miscommunication always sends me becasue I'm like, guys just... send one text... write one letter... talk to the loved ones around you who can provide some context... PLEASE! But Casey handled the Jake-Alex miscommunication and feud really well, AND I found Jake's arc from "golden child" to "struggling to make it and just wanting to prove himself to himself" really enjoyable to follow.
The chemistry between these two baseballer gents was so believable and sweet and I'm really fond of these two fictional characters. REALLY enjoyed this book!
