That moment when you find out that you'll inherit everything--the estate, the forty-plus million dollars--as long as you stay on the grounds for a solid year? And the next moment, when you know for sure that this estate is the place you've been seeing in your nightmares your whole life, the place crawling with figments (not ghosts) and strange creatures?
Not my favorite of her books, though I appreciated how it all came together at the end.

This had some great elements of gothic and body horror, and I loved the sapphic elements of it- I also may have liked this more as an adult novel, as some of the elements of horror were surprisingly dark for what I was expecting.
This read a little bit like the author was trying to incorporate too many elements of horror to tell a perfect story- some elements were touched on briefly and then forgotten for the rest of the story and some of the “hauntings” felt a bit repetitive.
That being said, each of those elements were well written. Just felt a bit like a trope salad with great elements but not tons of cohesiveness.
Just rating it lower personally because it just wasn’t my favorite but definitely better than the average YA horror novel.

Gothic story's are either a hit or miss with me. I was looking forward to reading but it just never grabbed me, so unfortunately this one was a miss.
