Some books aren’t for everyone.
If you enjoy paranormal, and can deal with some read world ish, then this is for you.
I love Mattie, her spunk, her aggression, and all in between.
This is the first in the series. It is a YA book so there is no real funny business, but lots of feels.
What she goes through is real, besides the ghost. Life is hard. Start Mattie’s story and grow with her.

I have to admit I was not expecting a lot at all from this book, when I first started though I enjoyed it I found it was very my a YA, and yes I do enjoy YA books but I felt this was going to be too focused for younger readers hence the 4 stars not 5. However, the more I got into it the more I was hooked, I could not put it down, there are so many twists and turns you don’t see coming. There were a few bits I felt were unanswered in the book but I’m hoping they get highlighted a bit in book 2. Definitely recommend if you are looking for a simple easy read that you won’t want to put down

A good read .

Suspenseful and mind bending. Definitely worth the read if you're into the supernatural.
I can't wait to read the rest of the series.

five stars. dont get me wrong, this book has some of the poorest writing ive ever laid my eyes on. but it is the best book series ever. i read this book for the first time when i was 13 on a very dreary summer day. my AC was broken and it was the hottest day of the year. every time i read this book i am hit with a nostalgia bomb. is it worth the micro cringes every time mattie says something oozing with internalized misogyny? barely, but thats still a good enough payout for me. ms baker, please learn how to write female characters that support other female characters. read up on the bechdel test. i would give up my life for you. with love, km.

I really liked this book. The story starts very fast. You are from the first moment in the story. There were hardly any moment reading this book made me feel bored. Normally, there are some pages that take more strenght to read, but there were no pages here that was the case of. If you want to read a good book about ghosts, that is not ordinary, choose this one. It also has a surprise at the end...I did not see that coming.

I'm not a massive fan of horror and when I read the blurb I was a little nervous to read it. However, after reading the book I'm glad I picked it up. It's thrilling and exciting, but it does get a tad deep near the end.

It was a quick read for a road trip. I would like this better as a movie than a book, I think.
