This is much more of a coming of age story with a mystery element. I would not say this is anywhere near a thriller. And the mystery feels almost beside the point, although it drives some of the plot.
That said, the writing is excellent & had I gone into this expecting a coming of age story, I would likely be rating it higher.

Graphic: Addiction and Alcohol
Moderate: Suicide attempt, Emotional abuse, and Toxic relationship

all the best parts of this book were paragraph long secret reveals. the main chara is drab and boring and frankly kind of a bad person, the God like worship of some incredibly normal people felt fake. I'd rather read a book about the BIG REVEAL lmao, or read it from literally anyone else's perspective. I was honestly just hoping it would end

how could you write this whole entire book and not realise you didn’t actually write any characters?

Got bored. All the characters talked about how interesting they were but I didn’t find that they were actually interesting.

I liked this book - I felt very engaged with the character of Jess and her relationships with her friend Georgia and the older charactersof Lorna and Alec. The story is very mysterious and dramatic with the central idea, I think, of hiding in plain sight. It's not a neat and tidy ending but leaves you wondering (in a good way). Very enjoyable.

Wasn’t drawn into it, more language than I wanted. Too much sex. Didn’t have any expectations going into it but was just bored of listening.
