Contains spoilers throughout!!

This was my first Hoover novel and I’m hoping I like the other books more as I found this to be another overhyped book I discovered on TikTok.

She has an easy writing style, but it wasn’t as sophisticated as I was expecting it to be.

During the sex scenes (which were almost too graphic), I felt that Hoover wrote those first then made a plot around them.

Mostly stayed with it to find out what happened with Miles and Rachel.

While I can see why this book is popular, there were a few things included that I’m not into. Pregnancy (teenage/unexpected pregnancy), step siblings being together.

We didn’t learn much about Tait apart from what she studied, what her job was and who her family was. She didn’t seem like a driven strong character. Everything was centred around Miles. Wasn’t able to think of her as a loveable character.

I also thought Miles was able to overcome his past way too quickly. Felt a bit rushed at the end. But his conversation with Rachel was very touching and easily one of the best parts in the book.
I did enjoy that Hoover was able to capture all the thoughts of a first love when you are a teenager through Miles’ POV.

Not terrible but not as good as her other books I’ve read. I didn’t start to enjoy this book until around the 60% mark so I was really pushing through.

Update: I have not read another Colleen Hoover book since this book and I don’t think I ever will read another one of her books😬

I have been in such a bad reading slump and this book got me out of it! Omg the characters are amazing the emotional roller coaster, I love that for once in a book the male main characters shows emotions. I would recommend this book to anyone I can. The fact that it’s so beautiful but describing something so ugly is truly amazing!
