Felt like this book was good but hard to read. Good character development but emotional and a little repetitive. A little one note in places.

A truly powerful book that shows what could happen if we continued down the road that our country has been heading. Vali is a strong character, and I really felt for her throughout her journey. I can't find any info about there being a sequel, but this book definitely leaves that possibility open, and I hope we can see Vali kind of grow from being strong out of desperation to being strong out of a choice, which I think we would see based on how I imagine the sequel would go.

So absolutely devastating. Heartbreakingly close to a reality that is rapidly approaching like how it feels to read handmaids tale

A dystopian novel that actually feels so close to reality that it’s disturbing.

Recommend for teens.

One thing I will say about this book is that I do not think it should be marked as young adult. While the main character is a teenage, it tackles some pretty traumatic events.
