I think the first time I heard about this book was when I saw the movie posters in front of our local cinema. Somehow I knew that was a movie adaption. But I remember not being very interested in it, the title didn't really speak to me. So I never really bothered with it again.
That is until a few weeks ago, when a friend of mine had actually received this book back after loaning it to someone and when I told her I had never read it, she immediately handed it to me. What can I say, I never turn down books. I started with it immediately, not wanting to inconvenience my friend too much and ... I definitely liked it a lot. I was pulled in immediately. I like Nick and Norah a lot, I hate Tris with a burning passion - even though she does have her redeeming moments.
The one thing I didn't like is that this books spans one night - and not more. I don't like it when books cover such short periods of time. I find that there is rarely time for character development, obviously. This serves more like an introduction for the characters. A well-done introduction, but just an intro nonetheless. Still, you should check it out should you see it somewhere.

I'm finally done with this book. I felt it took me ages to finish it even though I's a very short story.
I didn't really enjoy reading this book, maybe I would've liked it when I was 14? It felt too teenager, too immature. The characters didn't feel real, it felt like they were just trying to impress the people around them but you never really got to know them.
It's not the worst book ever, I just really didn't enjoyed it. Maybe this is something teenage kids would like, I often read young adult novels but this felt way too young.
Ps. Better to just watch the movie

Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist was probably one of the most honest, word vomit-filled, brave YA books I think that I have ever read. Many people like to joke that the people who swear and use the most profanity are often times the most honest and feeling of individuals. After reading Nick and Norah's angsty teenage perspectives, this is by far the truest claim I have ever heard. The language that Cohn uses in the novel is absolutely fantastic--profanity, musical terms and song lyrics, Jewish terms and religious qualities, and the overall impulsivity of the two teenage characters are really what shape the book into an amazing read. I was never one to really appreciate the writing style of the dual narrative until now. Rereading the same scene through two different characters' eyes adds so much to the plot and character development within the novel. After Nick first met Norah, he had such an interesting and unique way of describing her and to put it simply, he was entranced by her. I found myself wanting to read faster and zoom through the pages so that I could read Norah's account of first meeting Nick (which ended up being very sweet). To be honest, Cohn did an excellent job in getting into the mindset of these teenagers. The profanity added to the overall understanding of the characters' exasperation and frustration and the ever-flowing train of thought writing that Cohn produced really had me seeing the world through Nick and Norah's eyes. I would strongly recommend this book to any of my high school students, though it might be a little difficult to teach as a whole-class book because of the profanity that one would often encounter.
yeah this was cool but a bit a little bit try hard. the only reason nick and norah can have so much 'fun' is cos they are rich. most teenagers can't afford to drive themselves around and go into the city and have cash for drinks and meals and taxis and instuments etc or they don't have the confidence to be in a band and kiss strangers and go to gay bars and treck around the city etc. so the basis of the book is not very realistic but the dialogue and characters and interactions are realistic and that makes it okay.

- god. i know people defend ya protagonists' nonsense with "well, they're teenagers!" but really truly i do not think i was this bad when i was a teenager. i don't think most teenagers are this bad! why are our two main characters like this!
- the melodrama levels were off the charts with this one
- every sentence was a run-on stream of teenage consciousness
- also this has awakened a newly discovered pet peeve of mine- book characters listing out bands/artists/songs they like in an apparent attempt to get the reader to go "wow this character is so kewl" or at least in place of actually developing the characters' personalities
- like i get that music is a big part of this book but damn what is the point of listing songs on a mixtape.
- besides all that, it's a cute concept and big ups for turning what could have easily been a girls-hating-girls-because-of-boys plot line into... not that.
I just read Levithan and Green's Will Grayson, Will Grayson and liked it so much I wanted to give more of their work a shot. I'd seen the movie adaptation of this one a while ago and liked it, though I'm not sure how much of that like can be attributed to Kat Dennings and Michael Cera. This book just felt okay to me. I'm not sure if I would have felt differently had I not known the story going in.
A younger me may have enjoyed this book, but I find myself too old and cynical nowadays. If you enjoy a teenage love story with a lot of swearing, this is the book for you.
First off, I thought this book was very accurate in the way of how teens interact and how the mind of a boy and a girl differ. There was a lot of the f-word thrown in which a lot of other books aimed towards teenagers don't have and I think it brings out more the reality of how teenagers act. Most teenagers swear and theres no reason to try to make up that we don't. That is probably why this book was a hit with a lot of teenagers.
This is definitly a romance book, so if you don't like those kinds of books then I don't suggest reading it. It is more the love of two "emo" people that meet at a club and go through an amazing night together. I thought that was very unique about the book. It isn't over the course of months or weeks or years its over the course of one night.
This book is a tumbling romance of mess ups and forgiving. Both of them have extreme chemistry towards each other and all the want is to know more and more about each other.
At the start of the book I was incredibly confused. I don't go to clubs, moshes, or anything like that so the whole atmosphere of the book was pretty confusing. Plus I'm not as into music as the characters in the book are. Some of the dialogue that they had ran off into weird areas and they seemed to just talk about the most random things. About the middle of the book, after they left the first club where they met, I was starting to understand it more and by the end of the book I could see the whole story coming together.
Overall this was an amazing book and now, since I found out yesterday, I will have to go see the movie. I would recommend this to anyone into real teen romances and music. :)
