So I prolonged reading this series because I don't want to end. Even though I read every Ilona Andrews book, this series gave me everything I wanted in the UF series. I'm going to start with Kate, she is mother. I love her so much, the way she has grown in series and her relationship with Curran is everything. Curran was absent for most of the book but makes up if. Found family aspect of this series is really something.
Now to villains; Hugh d'Ambray the writing duo loves him, and I don't blame them because same. Roland was so surpassing that it was so refreshing for the big bad of the series not acting like it was expected from him. Julie story at the end was cute, another possible li, but I want her with Ascanio.
Anyways I adore this series.

Finally finished this one. It was good, it definitely did read like the final book of a series. And honestly I would be ok if it would have ended like this. But now I'm interested to see where the rest of the story goes. Especially since there's a lot of possibilities remaining.

A nice tidying up of several storylines, and a nice reunion of SO MANY of the series's recurring characters. It's so common for a series to drown in its own mythology, or feel the need to escalate each book with increasingly impossibly bad baddies (see, e.g., Supernatural) like GODS and our hero(es) miraculously still triumph. I like this
Spoiler"uh, well, sometimes you're just outclassed"
contrast.
But I really could have done without the extensive tour through Mishmar.
