I am incredibly happy I waited to order Horimiya so I didn't have to pay scalper prices! I originally found interest in Horimiya when my boyfriend suggested we watch it together! After absolutely loving the anime and realized both Hori and Miyamura were EXACTLY like us and our love story, I knew I had to pick up the manga!

Horimiya is originally a shonen "slice of life" manga that follows two high schoolers. We have Miyamura Izumi who is an outcast and Hori Kyoko the popular, smart, consistently crushed-on girl. Both put up facades in school and coincidentally meet when Hori's younger brother, Souta, crashes into Izumi! Through her little brother, they both see each other's true selves and slowly fall in love!

Throughout the series, we see even more of Hori, Miyamura, and their bountiful amount of friends. We get looks into their friends' lives as well which I love dearly. I appreciate the fact we see the side characters' lives too as it helped me connect and love so many of the side couples and characters. We also got scenes of both main character's pasts which were both sad and heartwarming. I recommend the anime for a more fast-paced look at Horimiya. As well as a beginner's guide to see if you'd like it. The manga however has much more content and isn't as episodic as the anime!

I have read the first 4 volumes so far, all of which have been 5 stars, and wish the anime included more of these wholesome scenes!

I really love this series so far. It is paced well and it didn’t fail to keep me entertained. I also really love the main characters as well even the side ones. For sure one of my new favorites.

Cute

After starting the anime I was excited to read the manga as well. I enjoyed seeing things in this volume that weren’t/haven’t been a part of the show. I can’t wait to read more!

what sets horimiya apart from the rest of highschool romance, for me,  is the effort and attention each character gives to thier own friendships.   and the concept of ambiguity in thier own feelings without sexualising and fetishising thier characters.
