It’s a horror anthology that relies on the grotesque; I signed up for queer trauma driven horror and got a mess of blood and guts with a rainbow flag draped on top of it. There’s two stories that I really enjoyed, a fairytale type narrative with a twink and a bear and a local ghost story type with a drag queen but even those are bogged down by this need to be gross that I think takes away from the narrative. Content varies from story to story but the gore is a through line. It’s fine, it’s not quite what I wanted, someone else might like it as is

While I'm sure there are plenty of people out there that this collection is for, I'm not one of them. I appreciated the first and last stories in here well enough, but beyond that, none of these stories really clicked with me. I'm a little disappointed, because I'd hoped that I would at least enjoy most of them enough to hang onto this collection, but alas, it would appear that isn't going to be the case.
