This book was SO SO good!! If you’re into romantasy (and Peaky Blinders x Hunger Gamesish) but want something different that breaks away from the usual fantasy formula, you need to read this.
I was hooked right from the start, the twists kept me turning pages and there was some I didn’t even see coming. The story, worldbuilding, and magic system were all fantastic, and the characters were honestly amazing. I cannot wait for book two!
UGH obsessed!!

I've learned to go into reading books that are heavily hyped on socials with little to no expectations, because I often end up wondering HOW they could have been recommended so much. This was not one of those books and it deserves every bit of the hype it's been getting!
This book really lived up to the Peaky Blinders with magic vibes. I listened to the audiobook and the narrators Billie Fulford-Brown and Joshua Riley did a great job with these characters. I'm a sucker for narrators with accents and their performances did not disappoint!
I also love any books where alchemy is the driving force behind the magic system. The way the magic and skills worked into a class system was really cool and I found it unique. We have Craftsmans -these are like blue collar workers, and Artisans - the white collar ones who end up with powerful elemental magic.
Patrick. He was literally Tommy f*ckin Shelby fantasy edition. I was absolutely crawling on the floor barking like a dog for this man. Give me more. The morally grey was at an all-time high, and then the softness he had for Nina, and ONLY Nina was to die for.
Nina, the FMC, was everything I wish for in a fantasy book. She was strong, with good morals, and a soft spot for the bad boy from the other side of the tracks.
The story starts in the past, when these two meet as preteens and uncover a very interesting secret about how people become a Craftsman vs an Artisan. Now, many years later, they meet again in the middle of a revolution.
This was a delicious slow burn that I was willing to wait every chapter for. The ending also left us on the edge of a cliff. A cliff I was so ready to jump off to see what happens next. I need book 2 yesterday!
