This book broke me !
All of the characters, with the exception of Shuggie really, are flawed and chaotic, and all impact the life of the little boy ! Real, rare and impactful, this book is a slog but so worthwhile !

Incredibly heavy read, had to be done in pieces. I love Agnes as much as I hate her. I want to hold Shuggie.

I put this down for a few months because 1) it is very sad 2) the pace tends to drag a bit. I'm glad I returned to it because overall it's beautifully written. Ideally, the book would be shorter but all in all a good read! That being said definitely read the trigger warnings.

Heartbreaking. I physically ached at certain points for these characters. 

I was absolutely hooked from start to finish, and I’m kind of sad to be done with it. It feels like I’m mourning someone, and I just want to keep hearing about Shuggie. 

Highly recommend the audiobook version too!
