An interesting reflection on gender in Earthsea - I got less out of this than I might have otherwise because I read the Books Of Earthsea version with all of Le Guin's afterwords providing as much insight as this does. However, this was still a great read - another opportunity for insight from the author.

It's always very nice to hear an author talk about their work and the intentions behind some of their narrative choices. I'm not quite sure whether this speech was adapted before being printed, or if this is a 1:1 transcription of the speech , as what Le Guin says just works very well in written form. There's a lot of humor and truth in what she says, and I feel that these two factors make for a beautiful and well-worded speech.
