This is one of the better memoirs i've listened too. I think Maria is hilarious and I'd totally go to her show. Again the book ends a little abruptly but I think the formatting is fun. The chapters are divided up into separate "cults" and chunks of her life. I appreciate that she keeps the timeline pretty easy to follow and describes what's happening year wise as well. I think I would have appreciated more of a conclusion other than her own twelve step program creation. The PDF of pictures and all the recipes were such a cute addition! I'd definitely recommend this as a good starter memoir. Very easy to listen to and funny while being serious.

If you love Maria Bamford, you will no doubt love this book! It’s as fun, twisted, sad and (potentially) relatable as you’d expect. Oftentimes I found myself pivoting from tears to laughs (within the same paragraph). My main problem with Sure, I’ll Join Your Cult is that it takes a few chapters to get into the rhythm of Maria’s writing style but once you’re tuned in, it’s a breeze!

As a lover of dark comedy and sufferer of “the mentals,” I found this book to be hysterical. I laughed out loud frequently; there’s even a sense of levity during the most deeply serious of topics.

As noted in the intro, this book doesn’t have much structure. Overall I wasn’t bothered by this although there were a few pieces where I felt there could have been more of an editorial or stylistic transition to note the end of a story. At times, it seemed like small but delightful stories (like the peanut butter pug face for Nick Kroll) were unceremoniously crammed into larger stories without an ending, thereby giving the feeling that I missed something in my reading.
