I annoyed with myself for not picking this up sooner - I loved it so much I couldn’t put it down!
The writing? Incredible.
The plot? Thrilling.
The characters ? Chefs kiss.
I'm sure I sound a little bit dramatic but I very much in love with this story. It's definitely one of my new favorites.

this book lives up to the hype! I do think it could have been edited just *a bit* but I really loved the politics and the characters (even the evil ones!) I can’t wait to pick up book 2!!

What an excellent read! The world is well thought out and clearly presented. The magic is interesting and compelling and perfectly interwoven into the plot. This is very obviously a mob family/political intrigue type of book with just enough action and character to keep you hooked all the way through. I’m excited to read the rest of the series
