Some of the stories were great and some were just downright strange. I didn’t like how abruptly they ended sometimes without any closure. It was almost like snippets into people’s lives without knowing the full story. But overall it was an enjoyable read and the stories Blue 4eva and snakebite were my favourites

I got nothing from this. Most stories were cliché and derivative and the writing style/voice was nothing special. Some of the stories had potential but didn't live up to it -- e.g. the first one could have had a lot of visceral imagery with the butcher but just never had the guts (pun intended) to go there. The story with Lara genuinely made me so frustrated, I was slamming my head against the table while listening.

I had high hopes for this collection, the title is immediately engaging, and 'Waterstones says' it "documents the contemporary young female experience with wit and insight" so I was ready to love it! Unfortunately for me, as a collection I felt it kind of lost its way. The first story was great, A graphic and (somewhat) gruesome tale of online dating, with a good dog as an added bonus, and I also really enjoued 'Snakebite' in which a girl named Meg becomes caught up in the drama of her friend, with blurred lines and plenty of toxicity to keep me interested. However, I felt that the collection overall was a little inconsistent, at times the stories meandered too much with not much point to them and others felt too similar. I feel that a few could have been excluded to make room for others to be more fleshed out.

There were definitely some interesting ideas and I liked her writing style, it just was a little unpolished as a collection for me and I found this somewhat jarring as a reading experience. I’d be interested to read more of her work, definitely an author I’ll be keeping my eye on.
