Extremely boring and very simplistic writing. Some of the stories were so pointless.

Some really resonated with me others were a bit boring but all in all quite enjoyable
Abby Lee Miller "you didn't stick out to me"
I didn't have any big issue with this book, its just that for a lack of better word - it bored me. I felt like I've read this before and I feel like a lot of people would feel the same especially if you "grew up" on the feminist corner of the Internet like me. If you read another short story collection like this you'll probably drop this book after the third story

Just one word about this book: WOW!!!
I’ll admit that I started this book with loads of preconceptions and bias about how it was going to be like: the usual f*ck up about millennials and f*cked up characters with their f*cked up relationships which they are incapable of maintaining, toxicity, problems, etc. in short: the usual melodramatic Sally Rooneysque melting pot about the current young adult generation.
Instead, what I got was a collection of pure tenderness, sweetness and hope that has touched me deeply in the heart. The aforementioned themes are present but not protagonist, only as a background to something greater, a sense of hope and bliss that tries to make its way through a sometimes bleak or otherwise difficult landscape, shining through like a bright comet in the dark. The characters navigate their complex relationships with themselves and the world with struggle and yet fragility and vulnerability that made me feel for them and sympathise with them even during their most “unlikeable” moments.
I appreciated the great diversity of these stories and how unique and original they are in terms of plot and content, and I loved finding out about different characters and situations. I particularly enjoyed “Flying Kite”, which stood out to me as I can confidently say it’s absolutely nothing like anything else I have ever read before in my life. No spoilers but: I was stunned to find the point of view of the narrator to be so different from what I had originally expected, and the plot of this story is truly unique and imaginative in the proper sense of these words. The characters and themes treated are not something I have ever seen immortalised in art before, they are not archetypes and they are extremely modern and problematised as such. (Also there are many of these stories with a surprise or unexpected element to them, which is a plus adding to the exquisite literary value of this collection!!)
Saba Sam’s writing style is equally soft and sweet and tender, so elegant and beautiful, yet simple and imbued with sensitivity, she truly has the touch of a mother towards her own characters and her own plots and subject-matter.
Just…wow!! Saba Sams if you are reading this please write a novel because I can’t get enough of you!

Some better than others. A few memorable lines. I always enjoy different perspectives on love and girlhood.
