I’m going to have to reread this book. I didn’t seem to have retained much of it

This was an amazing book, but there were sometimes when I got annoyed with some of the characters and their stubbornness. Even with the parts that i wasn't fond of, I still can't wait to read the second book in the series.

Not sure if this novel fell victim to my endless TBR list, or what!? I just couldn't get into the storyline, it made me think of a more childish, male version of ToG...

I enjoyed it. It was a fun way to escape whilst doing the gardening -had audio version.Yes there were some faults but lets face it I'm an adult reading a book aimed at middle school (USA) - late primary/early high school here in Aus. It was a bit of fun and adventure, a hint of possible young romance.

I thought the pacing wasn't very steady, but I love the character voices and the twist(s) that Nielsen is so adept at.

I liked it. I liked The False Prince better, but this isn't about that.
The only problem I had with this book is the frustration it gave me. There were so many problems that the main character, Nic, had to solve. This bothered me a lot throughout the book but then I realized that the author was setting up problems for the other books. So even though I was eventually not bothered by it, I was bothered by it. The ending was quite satisfactory.

Definitely not a favorite. Don't think I'll finish the series.

Book club with Aidan. I appreciated the historical references, and I love anything with magic. Not quite invested in any characters yet. Classic archetypes, which can be fun, but also meh. My son loved it, which is the point, of course.
