This was fast paced and had me constantly wondering what was going to happen next. I do think it was trying to do a bit too much rather than going deeper into one idea which left me wanting a bit more from the characters than I got.

A solid 2.5 stars. More unanswered questions that resolutions. I guess it was a good author's ploy to get readers to read the next book in this series. For my complete review read my blog at http://booklovinalicia.blogspot.com/

I received a digital copy as an ARC from Netgalley and from Random House Publishing Group - Del Rey Spectra to read and review.

***After some thinking I have to raise my rating to 4 stars. I have thought and thought about this book for a few hours now. Which means it impacted me more than I thought, and not in a bad way. Too many preconceived ideas of how it should have been. The author took his own approach and it worked. Though disappointed and full of questions at first, the ending left me wanting more and excited to read the next book hours after finishing. It just had to all sink in.

To be honest, I wasn’t expecting this book to be quite this good. I was so into this sci-fi thriller, and it absolutely helped that it was a quick read. It would’ve been so easy to plow through this in one sitting if I read it on a weekend because it was one of those books where each reveal left you wanting more. It is also one of those books where you should know basically nothing going in, so I’m basically going to leave my review here. Except to say that my favorite characters were definitely Spingate and Gaston, and the main reveal towards the end of the book was incredible. 4.5 stars rounded up. Seriously, just read it and be entertained.

The premise is promising, but the book didn't deliver. There was no there there. Little to no character development, so why should I care what happens to them? Sure, it's the first in yet another trilogy, but I have no desire to read further. The book was all surface and no depth.

I enjoy how the story built. The different personalities give much insight to the characters as they develop. 92

I think I'm simply not the target audience for this novel. I found the choppy, simple writing style very hard to get through. While I'm a huge fan of Scott Sigler's other work, and things did pick up a bit in the second half, this one just didn't connect with me.

Traditionally, mystery novels involve a murder. Or a stalker. But this? I'm not even sure what I just finished reading. This novel has got plot twists around every corner. Literally. And typically with plot twists, I can guess them accurately towards the end of the novel. Or at least have somewhat of a clue to what they might be. Here, I was left completely blindsided. The truth was something no one had seen coming.

I am a fan of Mr. Sigler's. I can still fondly remember his first book, Infected. The cover drew me in as it was creepy (in a cool way). So anyways I can remember reading Infected and not being able to tear myself way from it until I was finished. I still get goose bumps thinking about the story. So needless to say, I could not stop reading Mr. Sigler's books.

Yet, even with this impressive resume, I was a little skeptical about reading Mr. Sigler's newest book. I just could not imagine how he would do writing a young adult type novel. Well I am happy to report that I had nothing to worry about. In fact, this book far exceeded my expectations. I did not know what to expect from this story reading it. It was a little like Maze Runner but I thought this book was better. The whole reason for what Savage and the rest of the group experienced was in no way what I saw coming. This was a shocker. I liked this twist. I can't wait to get my hands on Mr. Sigler's next book. This book is a must, must read. It just might keep you up at night reading until the end.

I could not put this book down. I started at 4 and forgot about the chores I had to do, the dinner I didn't make and just read straight through until I finishes the book.
