A reread to remind myself of great literature and all it entails.

Each book in the series improves upon the last! I liked how the book was divided into a bunch of smaller mysteries rather than one big mystery. Having only short bursts of time in which to read, I found the episodic structure very convenient. And as always, spending time with the eccentric Sherlock Holmes proved enjoyable, especially since there were so many individual instances to admire his "pure logic". An easy, interesting read.

Brilliant.

It does what it’s supposed to do. No more. No less.

I've always enjoyed Holmes lore, but I've never read anything besides the Hound of the Baskervilles which was in high school. While these are enjoyable in their way, they are also problematic with race, gender and sexuality. Granted it's a problem of the time the stories were written but it doesn't make them easier to sit with while reading. Some of these stories I enjoyed very much, and some were just ok.
