Reread October 2022

Ok so 2 1/2 years later my review has definitely changed. The book was cute but at the time of my first read I was very new to the M/M world. Today I’ve read a ton of different M/M books and this one whole cute was just not very memorable. I enjoyed some aspects of the book and I’ll always be a fan of the bi awakening plot. Overall this book was ok. I enjoyed it but I doubt I’ll reread this book again.

Original review

This was a new to me author, and the story was so good I couldn’t put it down from start to finish.

It had me laughing out loud, crying, frustrated, and swooning.

I am so excited about finding a new MM romance author. I adored this book, and can’t wait to start the next!

I just loved everything about this book! GFY, which is a favorite trope of mine, with the added plus of a guy who didn't spend half the story angsting over his sudden attraction to another man. Maybe not so realistic, but I bought it, totally.

The sex was hot, plentiful enough to be satisfying, but not so much I started going "sheesh, again?", I never skimmed at all. Totally looking forward to more in this series!

Second Review March 6 2017

Just as good the second time around! I'm not even tempted to lower my rating. Great, because that doesn't happen with me often, usually my tastes change, and things suffer. Nope, not this one, just as yummy as the first time around.

This was really good. Well written and great story. The conflict is JUST PERFECT. It's a 4 because I hated some of the speech style used. I don't remember if this was mentioned or not, but I assume these are grown men in their 30s or late 20s? And sometimes they sounded like teens. It was a huge pet peeve of mine while reading. but I soldiered on and am glad I did because the other stuff make up for it. Great story.

3.5 stars. The book was a little slow in parts, but it was great to read a book where a GFY guy actually doesn't totally freak out about wanting another man. Dylan's acceptance of his sexual feelings for Alec were a nice surprise, but I really hated his phobia of admitting they were in a relationship. I don't understand how a supposedly straight man can have feelings for a gay man and have sex with him repeatedly and have no qualms about it, but when the gay man want the straight man to admit they're in a relationship, he freaks?! If you don't care who knows you hang out, eat with and sleep with a gay man every night, why do you care if people know you're in a relationship cuz I have to say, if people know you are doing all of those things together, then they assume you're in a relationship anyway. I liked Alec for standing his ground, but I hate that he's the one who went after Dylan. I think after Dylan's reaction to the the relationship discussion it was his responsibility to come to Alec and apologize, even if Alec had changed his mind and decided he didn't need the relationship label as long as they were together.

I was very intrigued by Tyler's reluctance to talk to Memphis, so I'm anxiously awaiting their book! I was afraid Noah's book was going to be next, not that I don't want to read about Noah, but I am more interested in what happened between Tyler and Memphis at this point. And I wonder if Logan will get a story too?

Really enjoyed the audio for this! There were times I felt that Alec really deserved better treatment from Dylan but it was a fun happy story overall.

Good book just a few issues

I loved the idea of this book and for about 95% of the time I enjoyed it but the 5% moments when Dylan was INTENT on not telling alec how he felt had me feeling no amount of sympathy for him. When I finally got to the ending it made sense why he was so hesitant but again if he just opened his mouth and said something a lot of the unneeded melodrama could have been fixed.

Oh, this was FUN. Gay for you with a twist - usually, those kinds of books center around the straight guy struggling with his sexuality, but in this case, that was barely a blip on the radar - it was the idea of COMMITMENT that terrified Dylan. I am quite sure there are lots of reviews that summarize the story, so I'll just say I thoroughly enjoyed the interactions between Dylan and Alec, and how they really developed a great friendship in addition to the mind-blowing sex. I loved the side characters, and am looking forward to the books about them!
