Reading this story felt like putting together a puzzle without the box to reference- you can slowly start to see where itโ€™s heading, but when you finally see the full picture itโ€™s so, so satisfying.

I went in blind, & Iโ€™m so glad I did! I didnโ€™t expect this to be such emotionally charged story. The way the book was divided into parts, plus the multiple POVs uncovered the layered backstory in a way that kept me glued to the pages. While I did see a few of the twists coming, it really didn't matter or take away from the impact of the story at all. I was so invested in seeing how it all played out, & the end came together just right. An easy 5 stars!

This book really wasnโ€™t for me. Iโ€™ll be honest the first part was incredibly enjoyable but then it felt like it deviated a bit from the main plot and focused more on Paris past life. Which is fine but not what I envisioned the book was going to be. I though it would have been more of a mystery, crime thriller. But in reality felt like the opposite. The book itself was fine, it had some really good moments but in general was just lacking any sense of surprise or drive. I felt like giving up multiple times but just pushed through. The "plot twistsโ€ were incredibly obvious and boring. Iโ€™d already guessed them all by the 3rd part of the book.

Wow- another 5 star by Jennifer Hillier! Her stories are so compelling and so devastating. The heartache I felt for Joey and the rage I felt at ruby were visceral. It was a great mystery, both the current one surrounding Paris and the old one involving Joey. I was rooting for both of them. And while Hillierโ€™s stories of trauma are brutal and sometimes hard to read, I love that
she lets the women win in the end. She gives them an ending not often afforded to women like them in real life.
will definitely be reading more of her work!
