**updated review after rereading**
I'm lowering my rating to 4.5 stars. I think i hate the ending even more after rereading lol. John Ambrose McClaren is so precious and deserves so much.
I must be slightly crazy to actually give it 5 stars(i think im giving it 4.7 or 4.8 but thats close to 5), but honestly i really did enjoy this book despite not being fully satisfied with the ending. Im pretty sure i laughed OUT LOUD quite a number of times. A few things were totally unexpected and some things were very heartwarming. I'll write a proper review on my blog later but for now, for now I'd like to congratulate Ms Jenny Han for succeeding in playing with my emotions.

Plus 5 stars for John Ambrose McClaren!
Plus 1 star for Lara Jean finally developing a spine.
Plus 1 star for the sisters acting their ages, 10, 16/17, and 18, as opposed to acting 5, 12, and 45.
Minus 1 star for Lara Jean losing that newly found backbone.
Minus 1 star for daddy issues being the reason Gen is such a see you next Tuesday.
Minus 1 star for Peter thinking he has done nothing wrong.
Minus 1 star for that locket stunt.

Loved this book! I got it as a "beach read" and it did not disappoint.
3.5-4
Sorry for the rambling review; this book kind of left me a little frustrated.
I feel like in this book my opinion of Peter changed, and not for the better. He just seems to be a, for lack of a better term, jerk. The constantly going with his ex and hiding from LJ that the Ex was the one who tried to ruin her reputation. It just left a majorly bad taste in my mouth. I kept screaming in my head to LJ telling her that she’s not using her brain anymore. She just dismissed things as okay and they never really have a hard talk. She just accepts it. No matter what his ex is going thru, it gives her no right to try to destroy another persons reputation. And then there’s the John thing. He treats her well. But you know that’s nothing compared to the guy who is still all over his ex the entire dang book?? I am all for growing and forgiving and accepting that we can’t change the past but I’m not sure I like how it happened in this one. I felt throughout the entire book like the best friend that is watching her friend go through a train wreck relationship and telling her that she’s not thinking straight.

Another simple read. It’s endearing, the way the writer is slowly developing the teenage characters towards more complex emotions as they grow older.
The story is repetitive, with another love triangle. There are periphery storylines that supplement this. But I would have preferred the characters’ challenges, especially Lara Jean and Peter, to reflect their developing maturity. Maybe in the next book.
