A product of its time, most of the hacks and "recipies" are out of date or were proven false. The rest seem dangerous to the maker as well as the intended victim. Still an interesting look at a darker side of our culture.

There is alot of practical information in this book. I read this when I was a kid, I'm meaning to give it a re-read now that I'm older and wiser.

This isn't my cup of tea, but it was on the banned book list, so I read it. It's really not that big of a deal. Most of the information can be pulled up from the internet in just a few moments. The preface on anarchism was pretty interesting, but this isn't something I will find myself itching to read again.

Book Review

Title: The Anarchist Cookbook by William Powell

Genre: Non-Fiction, Educational

Rating: 3.75 Stars

This review is going to be slightly different from my usual ones and a lot shorter as well since I don’t really know how to review this book without finding myself on a watchlist of some sort. I initially came across this book from a YouTube video discussing the most illegal or banned books to own, The Anarchist Cookbook was one of them. According to the creator of that video, owning a copy of this book gets you put on a watchlist and if you are arrested merely possessing a copy can extend the sentence you receive in court which intrigued me, so obviously I had to get a copy.

The Anarchist Cookbook contains instructions on how to create and use some highly illegal things like boom sticks and the like as well as substances. It also contains a lot of digital information although most of it seems to be outdated now as it mentions both payphones and modems which seems to obsolete in this modern age. While reading I found myself slightly disturbed about how casually the author discusses creating these things and these uses of them without really considering the damage that they can cause in the wrong hands.

This book was a highly unusually read for me since I can’t discuss these recipes in depth without getting this review taken down on every platform it will be posted on. Obviously, I wouldn’t recommend this book as it could lead to some unintended consequences but if you are like me and are just curious about the history of this book and how it came to be then definitely look into it as it was fascinating if nothing else about how easily some of these recipes can be made. Overall, I experienced a rollercoaster of emotions while reading The Anarchist Cookbook but it was mildly educational in places especially where technology is concerned although a large majority of the information went completely over my head.

I don't see what's the big deal, this is basically just a science book for more radical kids.

because the world will never run out of 17 year olds wanting to do drugs and blow shit up. my favorite was always the fountain-pen bomb.
