4.5 Stars. This is always such a beautiful and heart wrenching story. Smythe is an incredible artist and storyteller, already all of the introduced gods are so fleshed out and their motivations so easy to understand. The slow build of romance between Hades and Persephone is stellar and already has me eager to see how their love progresses. I think Smythe does well to show domestic abuse in a delicate and thoughtful manner. This was woven in elegantly with the rest of the novel.

Overall Lore Olympus was pretty good although I’m not sure it deserves the hype it gets. This is volume 1 of 3 so I’m hoping overtime as the next books come out I’ll understand why it started off as the biggest web toon and evolved in to hardcover. Rachel’s rendition of the Olympians were unexpected but still very enjoyable. The art style is gorgeous and overall it was a quick read (it took me literally a few hours to read the book front to back). I really enjoyed Heras and Hades friendship, as of right now it is the only established relationship that I really enjoy. Artemis and Persephone’s relationship feels more like babysitter and child at times, which makes sense given the context. I do really look forward to the next volume and seeing how the relationships shift and change especially once Persephone and hades officially get together. And to conclude, I would just like to say fuck Apollo.

First Graphic Novel. It was ok. Not sure I will continue the series. I found it hard to read.
