Mercy Watson is a porcine wonder! But is she also a menace? Find out in this early chapter book series created by Kate DiCamillo.

The illustrations are so nostalgic. They remind me very much of the Dick and Jane books I read as a child.

This is a cute story about Mercy Watson and her afternoon ride with Mr. Watson. As to be expected with the Watson family, there is an adventure and hot buttered toast. I liked the story and the illustrations were wonderfully whimsical.

(My 6-year old son's rating and review.)

"I liked this one a little bit less than the first one because it was a little boringer than the other. It just didn't have any awesome things in it. But I still liked it. It was funny how she flew through the air."

Very cute beginning reader for kids who have mastered the easy reader and need something a little longer, but aren't quite ready for chapter books... Love the 50's retro pictures, especially the pink convertible. Mercy, the pig, and her and unflappable human "parents" are funny, as are the grumpy neighbor and her sister.

What a fun beginning reader story this was. Mercy is such a fun character and the story is so zany. I mean it is pure fun. Obviously, Mercy goes for a ride in a pink convertible with Mr. Watson and that pig wants to drive. Mrs. Watson is still fixing buttered toast and the neighbors are still quirky.

Kate is able to take a simple and interesting story and reveal the fun of it into this different level. These are marvelous stories about a pig. I enjoy these and the kids enjoy these too. I'll finish off this series for sure.

Even better than the first. When Baby Lincoln popped out from hiding in the back seat, we laughed so hard.
